Connecticut Huskies' Three-Point Shooting Is Insane

The Connecticut Huskies have gotten off to a very fast start, despite losing their first game of the season on Dec. 18. With that in mind, the Huskies’ three-point shooting is insane.

The team is shooting 43.7 percent overall. It’s not like they don’t take a lot of three-pointers either because that is far from the case. Connecticut currently has 90 made shots from behind the arc.

Shabazz Napier has 19, but he is one behind the team leader. Niels Giffey has made 20 on the year. Five players have 12 or more threes. Connecticut is tied for third in the nation in three-point shooting percentage. However, it trails the top dog in college hoops by 35 when it comes to total three-pointers made.

There is plenty of reasons why this team has gotten off to such a hot start and three-point shooting has a lot to do with that. It also helps when you have a player as clutch as Napier and a number of players who can put the ball into the hoop.

Having a complete offense is a great thing, but there is nothing like a hot shooting team, especially when that team is making it from downtown.

Who knows what the Huskies’ seed will be for the 2014 NCAA Tournament–assuming they make it–but if they can keep up their great shooting from deep, they are going to be a very tough out come tournament time. After all, three is better than two.

Conference play is very close and it will be interesting to see how Connecticut fairs in it this season.

This year’s UConn team is one of the best shooting teams we have seen in the past few years from behind the arc and if they can continue this kind of accuracy, the Huskins will be a team to be reckoned with come March.
