Kansas Jayhawks Need to Beat the San Diego State Aztecs

Kansas

Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

Coming into the season, San Diego State looked like it would have a down year, but that has been far from the case early on. The Kansas Jayhawks will take on the Aztecs on Jan. 5 and they need to win that game.

It’s not like a loss to San Diego State would doom the Jayhawks’ season, but it could make or break it. Kansas already has three losses on the year and it does not want to enter Big 12 play with four. That is especially true with how good BaylorTexasIowa StateOklahomaOklahoma State and other teams have been.

The Jayhawks will more than likely enter conference play as the team to beat. Many people may not agree with that and I am probably one of those people, but their talent cannot be denied.

Kansas is on a bit of a hot streak, beating New Mexico and Georgetown in back-to-back games.

The Aztecs only have one loss on the season and that came against Arizona. They have already beaten Creighton and Marquette, who were both ranked at the time.

Regardless of the outcome, this will be a great matchup before conference play tips-off.

With three losses already on the season, Kansas needs to win. A loss could result in it not being ranked in the top 25. Although that is not the biggest issue in the world, the Jayhawks did enter the season by being ranked in the top 10. Kansas has the talent to be a No. 1 seed and that was evident when it knocked off the Duke Blue Devils.

Time to see if the Jayhawks can beat their second ranked opponent of the year.

Disagree. As long as the Jayhawks keep improving this is not the must win game you are trying to sell. Any league game will have more importance.
