The UCLA Bruins started off the season with eight wins. Since then, they have won two and lost two. 10-2 is a pretty good start for many teams, but in the Bruins’ case, this record is a result of an easy schedule. You could say that this team has a weak resume as a result.
UCLA does not have one key win on its resume. It also does not have a bad loss, so that is always good. The Bruins will close out their non-conference schedule against Alabama–a team that has disappointed quite a bit. Winning that game would do nothing more than give the Bruins some momentum.
I figured the Crimson Tide would compete for an SEC title, but I am not so sure about that now–have six losses already.
With all of this in mind, UCLA needs a marquee win. It’s not like the team is in jeopardy of making the dance or anything like that, but that could be the case if it still does not have a key victory towards the end of the season.
The Pac-12 currently has three teams ranked in the top 25 and two of those teams are undefeated. So, the Bruins will have opportunities to get that big win.
A team never wants to be desperate for wins late in the season, so hopefully this team can build up that resume early on in conference play.
