Xavier Musketeers Need to Continue Hot Streak

The Xavier Musketeers were once on a three-game losing streak in the 2013-14 college basketball season. Since that rough stretch, Xavier has won four games in a row. However, it needs to continue that hot streak.

Next up will be Wake Forest. That will be the last matchup before the Musketeers start Big East play. Having even more momentum entering conference play would be big for them, as they did not make the NCAA tournament last season.

Surprisingly enough, the Demon Deacons have a record of 10-2. Who knows how they will fair once ACC play starts, but a good start is a good start and I am sure this team will definitely take it. Keep in mind that Wake Forest only had 13 wins all of last season.

The Musketeers have beaten Cincinnati and Alabama in back-to-back games. Those aren’t the most impressive wins in the world, but they are wins against power conference teams.

Getting the victory against Wake Forest is much-needed for the simple fact that Xavier will have a very rough Big East schedule right off of the bat.

The Musketeers will tip-off conference play against a very talented St. John’s team. They will then play Butler, Marquette, Creighton and Georgetown. Big East being down this year or not, that is just brutal.

Every single team in the Big East has a winning record right now. Many teams tend to take the easy route in their non-conference schedule by not challenging themselves, but that last statement is still pretty impressive.

Regardless, Xavier has the talent to make the Big Dance this year, but it needs to continue its hot streak.
