Oregon Ducks Escape Scare From Utah Utes, Stay Perfect

The Oregon Ducks entered Pac-12 play undefeated, but they almost lost that perfect record after their first conference game against the Utah Utes. Oregon ended up winning the contest in overtime.

Either Oregon is not as good as advertised or Utah is a threat in the Pac-12. I am going with the Utes being serious contenders. They did enter this game with 11 wins. Cupcake schedule or not, that is pretty impressive.

If I were any team in college hoops, I would not want to play the Ducks in overtime. They have now played three games in extra minutes and have won all three of them. Although closing out games and winning by large margins is the cool thing to do, winning tight games and coming up clutch is just as important.

Who knows when the Ducks will actually lose this season, but they will have an even tougher matchup next. They will take on a ranked Colorado Buffaloes team on Jan. 5. The game will be played on the road for Oregon.

That contest will be its toughest challenge of the season. Oregon has not beaten a single ranked opponent yet, but beating the Buffaloes would change that. Climbing up the rankings would be nice as well.

It is going to be interesting to see if Utah can compete for a conference title, but it just got done taking one of the best teams in the Pac-12 to the wire.

Regardless, the Ducks now have 13 wins on the year and still remain perfect.
