Currently at 9-4, the UCF Knights are looking to make an impact in the inaugural season of the American Athletic Conference. Two of their best players are seniors Calvin Newell and Isaiah Sykes. On a night-in, night-out basis, these two talented players provide life for the squad on both sides of the ball and will be greatly missed after this season. Head coach Donnie Jones has signed the following two recruits to play for the Knights beginning in the 2014-15 season.

Adonys Henriquez is a 6-foot-5 shooting guard from Orlando, Florida. A four-star recruit, he is ranked as ESPN.com’s No. 17 shooting guard and will look to immediately be in the starting lineup on a team in need of a versatile, athletic scorer after losing two of its most important players. It is very possible that Henriquez will immediately be considered a pro prospect because of his size and length.

The Knights will also add B.J. Taylor, a two-star point guard also from Orlando. He currently plays his high school ball at Boone High School and is ranked as the No. 59 point guard by ESPN.com.

Most of the UCF basketball community is encouraged by their 2015-16 signees, and I think this program is on the way up. However, losing two key players and recruiting one who can make a difference immediately in a conference with very talented teams is not the way to win next season. Tristan Spurlock and Kasey Wilson will look to be the top two players for the Knights to lean on next season, but with that being said, they will most likely still need a few years to contend in the AAC.
