Are the Wisconsin Badgers the Best Team in College Basketball?

The Wisconsin Badgers were supposed to be good in the 2013-14 college basketball season, but I am sure no one predicted them to be this good. Illinois was their latest victim and the Badgers ended up beating them by 25 points. May I remind you that the Fighting Illini were ranked coming into this game. With its latest victory, is Wisconsin the best team in college hoops?

I guess that depends on who you ask. Let’s just put it this way, though. Wisconsin is 16-0. Before conference play started, it already beat St. John’s, Florida, Saint Louis, Virginia and Marquette. That right there is pretty impressive, but then Big Ten play began.

The Badgers are already 3-0 and they have beaten ranked opponents in back-to-back games. Iowa and Illinois both have gotten off to great starts, but apparently that does not matter to Bo Ryan‘s team.

At this rate, it wouldn’t be a surprise if they ended up going undefeated. However, I am sure that will not happen since teams like Ohio State and Michigan State are in the conference.

Regardless, this team is undefeated and in no way has it played an easy schedule. In fact, that has been the exact opposite.

Sam Dekker and co. made a statement with their 25-point victory over a good Illinois basketball team. Coming into this contest, the Fighting Illini were on a four-game winning streak and two of those wins were against Missouri and Indiana.

We talked about Michigan, Ohio State and Michigan State so much over the offseason, but Wisconsin has crashed the party in a big way. From a resume standpoint, it should be considered the best team in the sport. This is a very, very good basketball team and no one should want to play it right now.
