Can the Florida Gators Go Undefeated in SEC Play?

The Florida Gators are a very good basketball team and they have quietly climbed all of the way up to No. 6 in both major polls. Are they talented enough to go undefeated in SEC play, though?

Of course they are. But will they? Probably not.

If Kentucky wasn’t in this conference, then I am sure Florida would have a much better chance of achieving a perfect record in conference play. I am sure the two teams will split the season series this year, but who knows. It all depends on who is playing better basketball at the time and which team has a better game. They are both good enough to win a national title.

Florida tends to lose to an unranked opponent or two in the SEC on a yearly basis. I would like to say that this year will be different, but I doubt that will be the case. It’s not like the Gators have less motivation against unranked opponents. It is more like the SEC is very underrated.

Just like any conference, it is very tough to win road games in the SEC and Florida has plenty of those left. Seven of them to be exact.

Florida is going to be even better once Chris Walker is allowed to play. That is scary for the rest of college hoops. This is a team that has already beaten Memphis, Kansas, Florida State and Arkansas. The Gators have only lost two Wisconsin and Connecticut. Not a bad resume at all.

Billy Donovan‘s team still has to play Tennessee twice, Kentucky twice, Alabama twice, Missouri, Ole Miss, LSU and others. I don’t care what people say about the SEC, all of those teams have talent and surely are good enough to knock off the Gators.

I think Florida will win the conference title in the end, but I highly doubt it will go undefeated in the process.
