LSU Tigers Get Much-Needed Win Over Missouri, Keep NCAA Tourney Hopes Alive

The LSU Tigers got a much-needed win over the Missouri Tigers. The win not only kept them in the SEC race, but it also keeps their NCAA tournament hopes alive.

LSU is just 3-2 in conference play, but it is only 1.5 games out of first place. Florida is at the top of the conference with a perfect 4-0 record.

Believe it or not, this was probably the biggest win for the Tigers this season. Missouri has a very talented basketball team and could make the dance as well. Who knows if both of these teams will achieve that feat, though.

LSU’s five losses on the season have come against Massachusetts, Memphis, Rhode Island, Tennessee and Ole Miss. Rhode Island is 10-9 on the season and stole that game on the Tigers’ home court. That loss definitely hurt the team’s resume, but there is still plenty of time to make up for it.

LSU still has to play teams like Kentucky, Florida and Arkansas. Wins against the Wildcats and Gators would go a long ways. Both teams are ranked in the top 25 after all.

Regardless, the Tigers should feel good about their win over Missouri. They will play Alabama, Kentucky and Arkansas in back-to-back-to-back games. Winning two of those games would be huge and winning all three would have this team on the right side of the bubble.

Since there are only two ranked teams in the SEC–Kentucky and Florida–LSU does not have many opportunities to get quality wins. That does not mean the conference is bad or anything like that because it has a great chance to get four or more teams into the dance. The Tigers could be one of those teams, but time will tell with that one.
