Texas Longhorns Show They Belong in Top 25 With Win Over Kansas State

With their most recent victory over the Kansas State Wildcats, the Texas Longhorns showed they belong in the top 25.

The team has now won four games in a row. Texas’ last two victories have come against ranked opponents. We are going to find out how good this team is really soon.

The Longhorns will play Baylor and Kansas next. You could definitely say that they are on a very tough stretch. Playing Iowa State and Kansas State in back-to-back games is brutal enough.

However, Texas has played great basketball the entire season, hence the 15-4 record. Don’t forget that it beat North Carolina earlier in the year when the Tar Heels were ranked No. 14 in the country.

As it stands right now, this is definitely an NCAA tournament team, but that could easily change with a few losses in a row. Regardless, the Longhorns have beaten two very talented teams back-to-back and they have a 4-2 record in a very competitive Big 12.

The conference was supposed to be down this year, but that has been far from the case. There are currently six teams ranked in the Big 12 and Texas is not one of them.

I am sure it will be rewarded with a top 25 ranking next week if it can beat the Bears. That victory would give the Longhorns their third straight win over a ranked opponent, which would make for quite the showdown against Kansas on Feb. 1. With that said, Texas will take on Baylor away from home, so it will have to really earn that victory.

Being ranked or not, Texas has had a great season so far and could end up making the field of 68 in this year’s dance.
