Top 25 Rankings

top
Mike Carter-USA TODAY Sports

Although there is only one new team that entered the rankings this week, you can bet that the top 25 will look much different for Week 13.

Kansas State is the only team that was booted out of the top 25 and in its place is now Oklahoma. The Big 12 is easily one of the most competitive conferences in college basketball and people can expect the teams in it to beat up on each other for the remainder of the season.

Duke earned a big win over a former Big East team in the Pittsburgh Panthers. Now, people can really look forward to the Duke vs. Syracuse matchup--not like people already weren’t--because the two teams sit at the top of the conference.

Chris Walker was finally cleared by the NCAA and his presence should make Florida a national title contender. The Gators have made three straight Elite Eights and a fourth one seems very likely now.

Just as Kentucky was finally moving up the rankings, it lost yet another game. However, the Wildcats did lose to a very good LSU team that could make the NCAA tournament this season.

Texas is a team that is certainly on the rise and has now beaten three ranked opponents in a row. The Longhorns will play Kansas next.

There are plenty of college basketball games going on at the time of writing. Those contests will not be taken into account. For instance, Iowa State and Kansas are currently battling it out.

Read on to see the Week 13 college basketball top 25 rankings.

Rob Leifheit-USA TODAY Sports

Ohio State has not looked like the same team that won 15 games in a row to start the season. At the time of writing the Buckeyes were playing in overtime against Penn State.

24. Massachusetts Minutemen

24
Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports

Massachusetts has taken quite the fall since last week, but it has lost to two unranked opponents in its last two out of three games.

4 of 26

23. Pittsburgh Panthers

23
Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

Pittsburgh is a great basketball team, but it has now lost two games in the ACC. The Panthers are still lacking a major quality win.

5 of 26

22. Oklahoma Sooners

22
Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

Oklahoma recorded a huge victory against Oklahoma State last game, but it will have to play Iowa State next. The Sooners won the first matchup against the Cyclones, but will travel on the road this time around.

21. Memphis Tigers

21
Jonathan Dyer-USA TODAY Sports

Memphis is still two games back in the AAC standings, but it has won two games in a row.

20. Iowa Hawkeyes

iowa
Reese Strickland-USA TODAY Sports

Iowa has now lost two out of its last three, but those losses came against Michigan and Michigan State. Both teams are arguably the best in the Big Ten right now.

8 of 26

19. Texas Longhorns

19
Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

Iowa State, Kansas State and Baylor. Texas has beaten all three of those teams in back-to-back-to-back games. The ultimate challenge will be against Kansas on Feb. 1.

18. Kentucky Wildcats

18
Crystal LoGiudice-USA TODAY Sports

As I stated in the intro slide, Kentucky lost to LSU last game. The Wildcats will play Missouri and Ole Miss next, so in no way will they be getting a break.

10 of 26

17. Saint Louis Billikens

17
Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

Saint Louis is not only one of the hottest mid-majors in the country, but teams in general as well. The Billikens’ win streak is now up to 12 games.

11 of 26

16. Iowa State Cyclones

16
Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

Iowa State needed the victory over Kansas State last game and it could also use a win against Kansas, who it is currently playing.

The Cyclones are just 3-3 in the Big 12 standings.

12 of 26

15. Duke Blue Devils

15
Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

We all knew how talented Duke was coming into the season. Well, that talent is starting to turn into a very good basketball team.

The Blue Devils just got done knocking off Pittsburgh and they are on a five-game win streak.

Syracuse is up next. That game will show who the best team in the conference is.

13 of 26

14. Wisconsin Badgers

14
Mary Langenfeld-USA TODAY Sports

Wisconsin ended its three-game losing streak against a Purdue team that could make the dance. However, it is currently in a close game against Northwestern.

14 of 26

13. Oklahoma State Cowboys

13
Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

Oklahoma State may be one of the best teams in the country, but it has not been the best team in the Big 12. If that makes sense.

The Cowboys have a solid resume and a bunch of talent, but they are just 4-3 in the Big 12.

15 of 26

12. Creighton Bluejays

12
Dave Weaver-USA TODAY Sports

Creighton may have played in the MVC last season, but it is doing just fine in the Big East this season.

The Bluejays are at the top of the conference standings and have beaten Marquette, Villanova, Xavier, Georgetown and St. John’s (among others).

16 of 26

11. Louisville Cardinals

11
Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Louisville will play a very important matchup against Cincinnati next. The Bearcats are still undefeated in the AAC and the Cardinals only have one loss. The winner should be considered the team to beat in the conference.

17 of 26

10. Michigan Wolverines

10
Mike Carter-USA TODAY Sports

No one is as hot as Michigan right now. Sure, there are still three undefeated teams, but those teams have not beaten three top 10 teams in a row. The Wolverines have. Two of those victories were on the road and just in case you didn't know, Michigan State and Wisconsin are very tough to beat at home.

18 of 26

9. Cincinnati Bearcats

9
Howard Smith-USA TODAY Sports

Cincinnati is still unbeaten in the AAC, but it will have its toughest challenge of the season next. Louisville won the national championship last year and will be the home team in this AAC showdown.

19 of 26

8. Villanova Wildcats

8
Evan Habeeb-USA TODAY Sports

The 28-point home loss to Creighton was embarrassing, but Villanova has won two road games since. Both were very close, but a victory is a victory.

20 of 26

7. Michigan State Spartans

7
Reese Strickland-USA TODAY Sports

Michigan State could have easily lost two games in a row, but it escaped Iowa in overtime by two points.

21 of 26

6. Kansas Jayhawks

6
Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

Kansas is the best team in the Big 12 and a win against Iowa State tonight would further prove that.

22 of 26

5. San Diego State Aztecs

5
Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

It’s amazing to think that San Diego State wasn’t ranked to start the season, but as you can see, that has definitely changed since.

23 of 26

4. Florida Gators

4
Rob Foldy-USA TODAY Sports

The Florida Gators could be the best team in the country and the addition of Chris Walker will only make them stronger. Walker was a five-star recruit, so the rest of the SEC could be in trouble.

24 of 26

3. Wichita State Shockers

3
Reese Strickland-USA TODAY Sports

Wichita State is the worst undefeated team in the country, but hey, at least it is undefeated. Perfect record or not, the Shockers are one of the best teams in college hoops.

25 of 26

2. Syracuse Orange

2
Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

Syracuse has been perfect up until this point, but we will have to wait and see if that will still be the case when it plays Duke next.

The Orange are currently in a close game against Wake Forest, though.

26 of 26

1. Arizona Wildcats

1
Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Arizona is currently losing to Stanford on the road. Although a loss would end the Wildcats’ perfect record and would result in them losing their No. 1 ranking, losing to the Cardinal would not be the biggest shocker in the world.

It would clearly be an upset, but Stanford is a very talented team that has a great shot at dancing.
