The Baylor Bears were one of the best teams during non-conference play. They have taken quite the fall ever since Big 12 play started. However, they have plenty of time left to get off of the bubble and into the 2014 NCAA Tournament.
Baylor is on a five-game losing streak. It only has one victory in the Big 12, which came against TCU. The Horned Frogs aren’t exactly a tournament team, but hey, at least the Bears have one win in the conference. That has to count for something even if TCU is the only team with a worse conference record than Baylor.
Not only does this team have enough time to get off of the bubble, but it still has a bunch of marquee matchups left.
Heck, if the Bears won all of those games they would probably earn a No. 5 seed or better. However, that is just speculation and I doubt they will do that, especially with the way they have been playing as of late.
That is going to be easier said than done, though, because Baylor will play Oklahoma State, Kansas and Oklahoma in back-to-back-to-back games.
As good as the Bears were in non-conference play, they have been just as bad in conference play.
Isaiah Austin, Cory Jefferson, Brady Heslip and other talented players are on this team. Baylor shouldn’t be struggling like this, but the Big 12 does consist of five ranked teams.
Regardless, this team has the time, schedule and talent to still make the dance.
