Marcus Smart Must Curb Flopping Habit Before Making Leap To NBA

The biggest worry for the Oklahoma State Cowboys‘ fan base is not the fact that point guard Marcus Smart likes to flop around like a fish out of water. No, the folks in Stillwater should instead be worried sick that their team has dropped three straight games and is currently playing some of the most lackluster basketball that the program has ever seen.

However, because Smart is such a superstar at such a young age, he’s held to a higher standard and is becoming a lighting rod for attention —  not the good kind.

Smart has been channeling his inner-LeBron James as  of late, and the whole nation was able to see the former’s flops against the Iowa State Cyclones on Monday night. Now, I’d be a fool to immediately jump on No. 33’s back for a few harmless flops, but the point guard definitely isn’t doing himself any favors by developing such a bad habit while playing at the collegiate level.

Had Smart entered the 2013 NBA Draft then he likely would have been drafted somewhere in the top 10. Well, no NBA has to like Smart’s flops of late and if the point guard doesn’t wise up rather soon then he could see if NBA draft stock drop in the coming weeks.

Of course, the Cowboys have a lot more to worry about than a few flops, but Smart definitely needs to curb this nasty habit before saying goodbye to Stillwater for good.
