Oklahoma State's Marcus Smart Shoves Older Fan in Stands

It has been a pretty solid season for the Oklahoma State Cowboys and their star player, Marcus Smart. The sophomore guard has been lighting it up in Big 12 play and has been considered one of the top NBA prospects in this year’s class. However, what he did Saturday night while playing on the road may have hurt that notion.

During a tight game against the Texas Tech Red Raiders, Smart was knocked down on the baseline when a fan was apparently doing what a fan does — talk trash to the opposition. The older fan got under Smart’s skin so much, in fact, that the sophomore guard got up, turned to him and shoved him.

Take a look at the event that took place:

This might not seem like a big deal because he was most likely egged on by the older fan, but his actions are something that NBA teams will not want to take a chance on. If he has a slight temper like that with an older college basketball fan, imagine what kind of temper he will have with ruthless NBA fans.

Oklahoma State ended up losing the game and this was the one thing that people will remember the most.

It’s unfortunate that things like this have to happen to such a promising player, but I guess he will learn from his mistake and hopefully this will never happen again.

Oklahoma State might want to consider suspending the star player, but I’m sure college basketball is already in the process of assessing a punishment.
