Duke Blue Devils Have to Win Out if They Want to Win ACC Title

The Duke Blue Devils have been hot as of late despite their loss to the Syracuse Orange at the beginning of the month. Hot or not, the Blue Devils will have to win out if they want to win the ACC title.

Duke is 2.5 games out of first place in the ACC standings and the Orange might not lose. No team has beaten them yet, although the Blue Devils came the closest to knocking them off.

Luckily for Duke, it will get Syracuse at home on Feb. 22. That is a must-win game if it has any shot at the title.

Syracuse has to lose three games just for the Blue Devils to tie it in the conference standings. As good as it has been the entire season, that is actually possible.

The Orange still have to play Virginia, Duke and Pittsburgh (among others).

More than likely, Syracuse will come away with the conference title, but the ACC tournament will be wide open. Duke has more than enough talent to earn the auto bid. Virginia, North Carolina and Pittsburgh could also pull off that feat.

College basketball is one of the most exciting sports out there for the simple fact that there are so many upsets. So, it would not be a surprise if a dark horse candidate won the ACC tournament.

Regardless, Duke still has a small chance to win the regular season title, but it will have to win out. One more loss will put the title too far out of reach.

Although Jabari Parker and the rest of the team are chasing Syracuse, Virginia only has one loss in the conference standings and Pittsburgh is tied with Duke.
