Bubble Watch: 5 Reasons Why Indiana Will Make the Tournament

Okay, I know the Indiana Hoosiers do not quite look like a contender this season, but that does not mean they cannot slip their way into March Madness as an eight or nine seed and then cause a little trouble. Would not want to play them in a one-and-done situation; that much is quite clear.

It would certainly be a shame if the Hoosiers are not able to finish off the season strong, but they certainly have many opportunities left to prove themselves worthy to the selection committee. In particular, their upcoming matchup with the Wisconsin Badgers is key, because if the Hoosiers can win that game it would sweep Bo Ryan's squad for the season. It has been quite a weekend in college basketball, and honestly it is only going to get more fun as we get closer and closer to March.

This slideshow could end up being wrong if the Hoosiers do not play to their ability level, but look for them to finish out their Big Ten schedule with authority and then get at least one more quality win in the conference playoffs.

Here are five reasons why the Hoosiers will slide their way in under the wire, but it will certainly take some solid coaching from Tom Crean as well as more maturation from power forward Noah Vonleh. Thanks for stopping by.

5. Head Coach Tom Crean-

Tom Crean is one of the top coaches in the Big 10; do not quite trust his postseason record yet, but would be hard pressed to bet against him in the regular season. He will have the Hoosiers playing with confidence as the year ends; if they can rattle off a few wins in a row to end the regular season, then Crean's squad should be dancing come the Ides of March.

4. They Will Sweep Wisconsin This Season-

This is their next upcoming game, and it would certainly impress the selection committee if the Hoosiers can sweep the Badgers this season. Their Big 10 conference recored is not fantastic, so this would be some much needed balm.

3. Mostly Regular Season Home Games-

Three out of their five remaining regular season games are at home, and this really makes a difference for a young squad like this. Vonleh is a young player who will be much more comfortable at home, but a key match will be the regular season finale on the road against the Michigan Wolverines.

2. Noah Vonleh Is a Double-Double Machine-

He is not quite averaging a double-double, but he is doing well enough that pro basketball scouts have been whispering about him. The Hoosiers better enjoy this guy while they can, because he has one-and-done written all over him. Just a shame for the squad that Adam Silver has not changed the age restriction to 20 just yet.

1. But Seriously, Tom Crean is Jim Harbaugh's Brother In-Law-

That has to count for some kind of mo-jo right? Just kidding, but do think that Crean's coaching deserved a second slide. He consistently get his teams to improve defensively throughout the year, and this season should be no different.
