Wichita State Now 30-0, Will Likely Enter NCAA Tournament Unbeaten
Going unbeaten for an entire regular season is no easy task, but just tell that to the Wichita State Shockers who have become the first team to win 30 games on the season and, oh, guess what? They have yet to lose a single game. With just one game left on the regular season schedule, the Shockers look to be the only unbeaten team in recent memory to enter the NCAA Tournament.
In fact, the Shockers can pull off the first unbeaten regular season since the 2003-04 St. Joeseph’s team with a win over Missouri State at home on Saturday.
It’s looking likely that this team will be 31-0 heading into its conference tournament, but winning the league tournament is always the toughest battle. Teams will be fighting for a spot in the NCAA Tournament and will be aiming for the oversized target on Wichita State’s back.
Who would have thought that the Shockers would be the best team in the state of Kansas heading into the 2014 NCAA Tournament.
With March just days away, Wichita State will hope to keep the hot streak alive and build off the 30 consecutive victories in order to make a serious run at a No. 1 seed in the tourney and a possibly run at a Final Four berth.
It seems like this team can’t be beaten right now, but it is lightly-tested. The Shockers have yet to play a team ranked in the Top 25 this season and that is something that can hurt them when it comes time to play the best teams in the nation in March.
To be the best, they must beat the best. Time will tell if the Shockers really are “the best”.
