With three games remaining in the 2013-14 college basketball season, the Oklahoma State Cowboys may need to win every single one to safely secure their spot in the 2014 NCAA tournament. Win or lose those games, the Cowboys will go on to win the Big 12 tournament.

Yes, I have been watching the same Cowboys team that everyone else has been watching. I understand that their seven-game losing streak was, well, a seven-game losing streak.

However, Marcus Smart has been great since his return and the Cowboys have more than enough talent to beat teams like Kansas in the conference tournament. Speaking of which, the Jayhawks and OK State will meet up this weekend.

If Oklahoma State wins its last three games of the season, it will enter the Big 12 tournament with a lot of momentum. It does have to play Kansas, Kansas State and Iowa State to close out the season — three teams that should be in the dance.

This is a team that has four players who are averaging 13 or more points per game and this is a team that came into the season with a top 10 ranking. The talent is still there. The Cowboys just went on a very uncharacteristic losing streak.

They have still beaten teams like Colorado, Memphis, Texas and West Virginia (twice).

Smart and Co. have a lot to prove and prove is exactly what they are going to do. No matter how the rest of the regular season plays out, every other team in the Big 12 better not take Oklahoma State lightly because it is still very, very talented. Plus, being on the bubble, losing Smart for three games and losing seven in a row — now on a two-game win streak — will give the Cowboys more than enough momentum for the Big 12 tourney.
