5 Bold Predictions for the ACC Conference Tournament

a
USA TODAY Sports- Mark Dolejs

The ACC regular season is coming to a close, and so it seems like a good moment to make some predictions for the upcoming conference tournament.

Going to make one team prediction, and then a few that concern individual players.

Jabari Parker is going to be featured, of course, but the Syracuse Orange have been a great story in their first ACC season as well. Meanwhile, with those two teams grabbing all the headlines, the Virginia Cavaliers were getting work done. They have been one of the best defensive teams in the entire country, and it would not shock me if they ran away with this tournament.

Head coach Roy Williams will do his best to have his North Carolina Tar Heels moving the ball well, but that is mainly due to the performance of Marcus Paige, who the slideshow will touch on as well. Even if all five of these end up being wrong, it is still going to be an amazing tournament, and then we will be all set for March Madness. It really is my favorite time of year, and that might be because it always pops up after such a cold month.

The ACC has been super competitive this season, and even though I did not like the addition of the Big East teams at first, have to admit that it has made for a lot of fun ball being played of late. Thanks as always for stopping by, and give us another click tomorrow if it strikes your fancy. Here are five bold predictions for you; they may not be quite as bold as a boozehound in a brothel, but maybe just close enough.

5. Two Duke Blue Devils Will Make All Tournament Team

Jabari Parker is a lock, but would not be surprised to see Rodney Hood on the team as well. Parker dropped the news recently that he has not decided whether to come back for his sophomore year or not, and if he came back, that would mean bad news for the rest of the ACC.

4. Marcus Paige Will Shock Some People

Paige has been impressive offensively this season, and he rescued the Tar Heels from the dreaded March Madness bubble. They have been playing consistently to end the regular season, and it would not be a shock to me if the point guard's play leads them to the title game.

3. Tyler Ennis Will Hit a Buzzer Beater

Point guard Tyler Ennis has had an electric season, and his quarter court buzzer beater earlier this year was quite impressive. I think Ennis has a bit more in store for us before the end of the year, and the ACC tournament would be a great venue for his talent to be showcased.

2. Roy Williams Will Pray for a Misstep

USA TODAY Sports- Bob Donnan

Roy Williams said recently that the only way to guard Jabari Parker is to hope that he twists his ankle on the stairs. That is pretty funny, but it is also quite accurate. You cannot guard Parker with just one man; it takes an entire team, and that is why the Blue Devils are such a major threat when it comes to March basketball.

1. The Virginia Cavaliers Will Make the Finals

a
USA TODAY Sports- Geoff Burke

You thought I forgot about them, didn't you? My home state is Virginia, so I would never leave the Cavaliers out in the cold. Especially after a season where they clinched the ACC regular season title outright behind some inspired team defense. Not sure who will end up winning this thing, but think it will come down to the Virginia Cavaliers against one of the squads on Tobacco Road.
