You know it's March when the No. 1 seed in the Big East tournament goes down in its very first game. Selection Sunday is so close, but so much has to happen before the field of 68 can be announced for the 2014 NCAA tournament.

Well, let’s try and decide some things ourselves before conference tournaments are over. Let’s take a look at 15 bold predictions for Selection Sunday.

Providence Will Make It

Providence won a very important game against St. John’s today and should be in the dance as a result.

At Least One Mid-Major Will Steal a Bid

I don’t care if it is Southern Miss, Green Bay, Louisiana Tech or whoever, at least one mid-major will steal a bid this year. And by steal I mean a mid-major team will earn an at-large bid over a power conference team that could have made a serious case for the dance.

Louisville Will Earn No Worse Than a No. 2 Seed

What Louisville did to Rutgers was just mean --won 92-31. The Cardinals are hot, they are one of the top ranked teams in the nation and although they have to pass a few teams, they will earn no worse than a No. 2 seed.

SEC Will Get Four Teams In

Florida and Kentucky are locks. Tennessee will more than likely make it and the fourth team is up in the air at this point. Still, a fourth SEC team will make a run in the conference tournament and earn a bid to the best tournament in sports.

Kansas Will Get a No. 1 Seed

Kansas just got done beating a very, very good Oklahoma State team. It will go on to win the Big 12 title --arguably the most exciting conference in college hoops-- and then will earn a No. 1 seed.

Villanova Will Fall to a No. 3 Seed

Villanova Will Fall to a No. 3 Seed

Villanova was the No. 1 seed in the Big East tournament and it lost to Seton Hall in its very first game. Ouch. The Pirates arrred their way to victory as the No. 8 seed. That loss will not only cost the Wildcats a No. 1 seed, but a No. 2 seed as well.

Florida Will Earn the Overall No. 1 Seed No Matter What

Florida is a lock for a No. 1 seed. I think the Gators are a lock for the overall No. 1 seed as well and will get the top seed even if they have an early exit in the SEC tournament.

I have faith in ESPN’s Joe Lunardi...so much so that he will get every single team right for the 2014 NCAA tournament field. 68 for 68.

Oklahoma State Will Be the Most Talented No. 7, 8, 9 or Whatever it May Be Seed

What seed do the Cowboys deserve? They have the talent to be a No. 3 seed, but their resume would suggest otherwise. More than likely they will earn a No. 7, 8 or 9 seed in the dance and they will be the most talented seven, eight or nine seed the tournament has ever seen.

Villanova, you’re still going to make the dance. So is Creighton. I also think Providence will make it. So, that leaves one more team out of the Big East and it should be Xavier.

BYU Will Sneak In

BYU had a great season and although it could not win the WCC tournament, it will still be dancing all the way to its first contest in the 2014 NCAA tourney.

Only Two of the Current No. 1 Seeds Will Hold

Joe Lunardi currently has Florida, Wichita State, Villanova and Arizona as No. 1 seeds. He will still get all 68 teams right; however, only two of the current top teams will actually earn No. 1 seeds. Don’t ask questions, just enjoy all of the upsets this weekend will have leading up to Selection Sunday.

Winner of Memphis/Connecticut Game Will Earn a No. 5 Seed

Memphis and Connecticut will battle it out today. The winner will go on to earn a No. 5 seed. According to Lunardi’s bracket, Connecticut is trending down as a No. 6 seed and Memphis is a No. 7 seed.

So many different teams could win the Atlantic 10 tournament. I am predicting VCU to win it. That will result in the Rams earning the highest seed out of the A 10 teams.

No Big Ten Team Will Earn a No. 1 Seed

Winning the Big Ten is not going to be easy. Wisconsin could still earn a No. 1 seed and so could Michigan; however, I am predicting neither team to pull off that feat. That is because I am predicting Michigan State to win the conference tournament. Go Sparty!
