2014 NCAA Tournament Preview: No. 4 UCLA vs. No. 13 Tulsa

By Trevor Lowry

The UCLA Bruins knocked off the Arizona Wildcats for the Pac-12 tournament championship. The Wildcats are a No. 1 seed in this year’s NCAA tournament.

The Tulsa Golden Hurricane made it by winning the Conference USA tournament title. Although beating Arizona for a Pac-12 title is a little better, the C-USA was one of the most competitive conferences in college basketball this year. There was a four-way tie for first place once the regular season ended.

What to Watch For

Jordan Adams and Kyle Anderson for UCLA big time. These two players could become stars in the 2014 NCAA tournament. Adams leads the team with 17.2 points per game, but Anderson is putting up 14.9 points per game, 8.8 rebounds per game and 6.6 assists per game. If the Bruins make a run it will definitely be because of these two.

Let’s not focus on one player for Tulsa. Let’s focus on the team. The Golden Hurricane have won 11 games in a row and have beaten some of the best teams in the conference during that span. They beat Middle Tennessee and Louisiana Tech in back-to-back games in their conference tournament. Those two teams tied with Tulsa in the conference standings.

Tulsa is on fire and that could lead to an early round upset.

If you have more than one bracket, you should definitely go with Tulsa in one of them. However, UCLA has played tougher competition this season and its duo of Anderson and Adams is very underrated. I am going with the Bruins, but it would not surprise me one bit if the Golden Hurricane kept their winning streak alive.

UCLA 75 Tulsa 70
