Region – Seed: East – No. 3

RPI: 9

BPI: 15

Conference: Big 12 Conference

How They Qualified: Big 12 Conference Tournament Champions

Iowa State has been one of the better teams all season long. The Cyclones did start off the season with 14 straight wins. Three of those wins were against ranked opponents (at the time).

This is a team that made the dance last year and almost upset Ohio State in the Sweet 16. Well, the Cyclones really shouldn’t be an underdog to anyone this time around and winning a national title could be in store for them if all things are clicking just right. How many teams can you say that about, though? How about a lot.

What You Need to Know:

Leading Scorer: Melvin Ejim (18.4 ppg)

Leading Rebounder: Dustin Hogue (8.7 rpg)

Leading Passer: DeAndre Kane (5.8 apg)

Bad Losses: None

Good Wins: Michigan, Iowa, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State (twice), Kansas

Melvin Ejim and DeAndre Kane are two very exciting players to watch on this team, although they are not the only two.

Four Cyclones are putting up 10 or more points per game and three of those players are averaging 16+. If you have not seen Kane play yet you are in for a real treat. He is one of the best point guards, and players for that matter, in the tourney.

As the fifth highest scoring team in the nation, you can expect Iowa State to put up some points, especially in the early rounds.

The Iowa State Cyclones are dancing!
