How They Qualified: MAAC Tournament Champions

Manhattan started its season off in thrilling fashion by going to double overtime with the La Salle Explorers. The Jaspers would go on to win that game.

This is a team that trailed Iona in the MAAC standings by two games when the regular season finished. However, the Jaspers beat the Gaels when it mattered most — in the MAAC tournament championship. They also beat Iona during the regular season on Feb. 28. The Jaspers will now be battling it out in the 2014 NCAA tournament.

What You Need to Know:

Leading Scorer: George Beamon (19.2 ppg)

Leading Rebounder: George Beamon (6.6 rpg)

Leading Passer: Michael Alvarado (4.0 apg)

Bad Losses: Fordham, Fairfield

Good Wins: Iona (twice), La Salle, Buffalo

Manhattan finished off the season by winning 11 of its last 12 games. Now that is how a team is supposed to finish down the stretch. The Jaspers showed they were the best team in the MAAC by beating Iona twice late in the season.

Get George Beamon the ball. The senior is leading the team in the scoring department and puts up nearly 20 points per game on average. However, the Jaspers do average 77.4 points per game, so he is not the only player who can score. With that in mind, only two other players are averaging more than 10 points per game.

Regardless, this team is red-hot which is exactly the way any team wants to enter the best tournament in sports.

The Manhattan Jaspers are dancing!
