Record: 28-6

RPI: 19

BPI: 26

Conference: West Coast Conference

How They Qualified: WCC Tournament Champions

Region: No. 8 seed in West

The Gonzaga Bulldogs may not be the same team that earned a No. 1 seed in last year’s dance, but that could be a good thing depending on how you look at it. That team was upset in the round of 32.

This team hasn’t really been challenged all that much, which could be a bad thing in the NCAA tournament. At the same time, the Bulldogs were probably ranked during the season for a reason, or that is at least what fans are probably hoping.

What You Need to Know:

Leading Scorer: Sam Dower (15.0 ppg)

Leading Rebounder: Sam Dower (7.1 rpg)

Leading Passer: David Stockton (4.2 apg)

Bad Losses: Portland, San Diego

Good Wins: ArkansasBYU (twice), West Virginia

The Bulldogs have not not played top end talent this season. The toughest team they faced –at least on paper– was Kansas State. Gonzaga lost that game.

Last year’s team or not, Gonzaga still has Kevin Pangos. Pangos is deadly from behind the arc and opposing teams have to cover him. That is a must. He is shooting 41.1 percent from three-point range and has made 78 threes in the process.

There is some talent on this team –as there is with every team in the tournament– but Pangos is the most important player and he is going to have to come up big if the Bulldogs plan on getting past the round of 32 this year. With that said, Sam Dower and a couple of others are key players as well.

The Gonzaga Bulldogs are dancing!
