2014 NCAA Tournament Preview: No. 7 Connecticut vs. No. 10 Saint Joseph’s

This could be one of the best games in the NCAA tournament. At least in the round of 64. We could say that about many games, but this one has the potential to be great.

Before losing to Louisville in the AAC tournament championship game, the Connecticut Huskies beat Memphis and Cincinnati. Both teams were ranked in the top 25.

Saint Joseph’s was not the favorite going into the Atlantic 10 tournament, but it still managed to win it.

What to Watch For

The two main players to watch out for in this contest are Shabazz Napier and Langston Galloway.

Napier is leading the Huskies in basically everything. He is putting up 17.4 points per game, 5.9 rebounds per game and 4.9 assists per game. He is easily one of the best players in the country and he is very clutch. I doubt the Hawks will be able to contain him.

Regardless, Galloway will have to come up big. He is also averaging 17.4 points per game. He will make Connecticut pay if left open, as he has made 99 threes on the year.

Prediction

If Saint Joseph’s plays like it did in the A 10 tournament, then it will go far in the dance. At the same time, the Huskies have beaten teams like Florida on the year. The Gators only have two losses and are the overall No. 1 seed, so that is pretty impressive. I think whichever star has a bigger game will lead to his team winning. I have to go with the clutch Napier in this one, though.
