In a matchup that seemed to be a toss up before the game, the Kentucky Wildcats proved to be too much for the Kansas State Wildcats. If it were any indication as to how this one would play out, a pregame dunk in warm-ups resulted in Kentucky shooting technical foul shots and taking a 1-0 lead before the tip-off.

Right from the beginning of the game, Kentucky controlled the pace and the score and never really found themselves in danger of falling behind. As many expected, the size of Kentucky, with two 7-footers and the man-child Julius Randle, who had 19 points and 15 rebounds, were just too big and physical for an undersized Kansas State squad. The only hope Kansas State ever really had was the scoring ability of Marcus Foster and the shooting touch of Will Spradling.

Next up for Kentucky comes the No. 1-seeded Wichita State Shockers, who currently still have an unblemished record of 35-0. John Calipari and his freshmen-laden once had hopes of running the tables for a 40-0 season. Those hopes now turn to knocking off the lone undefeated team in college basketball to advance to the Sweet 16.

The Cleanthony Early-led Shockers have other plans for the Wildcats, and Kentucky will have to play a near-perfect game if they hope to knock off the veteran shockers. As for tonight, Kentucky can take a sigh of relief and enjoy being one of the final 32 teams in the NCAA tournament.
