This year’s NCAA Tournament is the most exciting in recent memory as many of the top teams have already fallen and the Cinderellas are getting a real shot at an Elite Eight and a possible Final Four. The West Region may not have any true Cinderellas left, but there are a couple teams that many people are giving zero chance at making it to the Elite Eight.
Just a few weeks before the NCAA Tournament, the Baylor Bears were a serious bubble team and it looked like they might not be dancing and just sitting at home watching the best teams in the nation go at it for a national title. However, the No. 6 seeded Bears seem to have hit their stride at the perfect time, dominating their way to the Sweet 16.
The Bears aren’t the only surprise of the region as many people believed the Oklahoma State Cowboys would have a great chance at beating the Arizona Wildcats in the round of 32, but they couldn’t even get past Gonzaga in the round of 64.
No. 12 seed North Dakota State was almost a Cinderella after defeating the No. 5 seeded Oklahoma Sooners in the second round, but the Bison fell short, losing to San Diego State in the next round.
It took a tremendous comeback effort for the No. 2 seed Wisconsin Badgers to defeat the No. 7 seed Oregon Ducks in the third round, heading to a Sweet 16 for the third time in four years under Bo Ryan.
Let’s take a look at the Sweet 16 matchups and TV Schedules for the West Region:
-No. 1 Arizona vs No. 4 San Diego State on Thursday, March 27 at 10:17 p.m. EST on TBS
-No. 6 Baylor vs No. 2 Wisconsin on Thursday, March 27 at 7:47 p.m. EST on TBS
