The Tennessee Volunteers have surprised many by making it to the Sweet 16. With the Michigan Wolverines standing between the Vols and the Elite Eight, Tennessee has upsets and glory on its mind. Here are five reasons why the Vols will upset the Wolverines and face Louisville or Kentucky in the Elite Eight.
Michigan is known for their superior guard play, not their big men. Their weakness dow -low will be heavily exploited by Jeronne Maymon and Jarnell Stokes.
Stokes and Maymon are masters at offensive rebounding, and could change the game by grabbing boards even if the Vols are ineffective beyond the arc.
Since the start of the 2014 NCAA tournament, Jordan McRae hasn’t been the 30-plus point scorer we’ve grown accustomed to seeing. However, the improved play of Antonio Barton, Armani Moore and Darius Thompson has allowed McRae to play more freely.
Martin is one of the best defensive coaches in college basketball. He’s proving all his naysayers wrong by leading this team deeper and deeper into the tournament. He’ll have this team ready to face Michigan’s offensive threat by Friday.
There isn’t a better defender in college basketball. Richardson has shut down some of the best players in college basketball over and over again. Add in his recent scoring streak, and he could end up making the All-Tournament team.
