The Alabama Crimson Tide came into the 2013-14 college basketball season as a dark horse to go to the 2014 NCAA Tournament but fell well short of expectations. The Crimson Tide lost momentum early in the season and looked lost once SEC play began. Here are five takeaways from the Alabama’s college basketball season.

The Crimson Tide almost won a lot of games; however, almost is still not winning. After a non-conference schedule filled with close losses, Alabama collapsed later in the season.

Trevor Lacey’s absence was obvious in Alabama’s failure to live up to expectations. He transferred to North Carolina State and took all the team’s momentum with him.

Trevor Releford is a fantastic college basketball player, but at times he was literally the only offensive threat for Alabama. They have to play better as a team after he leaves this season.

Anthony Grant hasn’t had a lot to work with, but he has to start getting results soon. If he doesn’t start off next season strong, Grant will be on the hot seat for a majority of the 2014-15 season.
