Word broke today that Jabari Parker is taking his talents to the next level. His decision isn’t surprising, but the amount of time it took him to make it was. Parker could have set a great example for future players by returning for another year at Duke, but that is alright. He is making the right decision and we will be looking at five reasons why.

Parker was so good this year. He did average 19.1 points per game and 8.7 rebounds per game. He is ready to succeed at the next level right now and he could be the next best thing in the NBA.

Some people could rightfully argue that Parker is the best player in the draft.

Parker should get drafted in the top three. If he goes any lower, I am sure many people -- including myself -- would be surprised. There is still a chance that he goes No. 1 overall. Staying another year could have maybe guaranteed him the No. 1 pick overall, but who knows.

Sure, Parker could get injured by walking across the street, driving in a car or honestly in any other humanly way possible. However, it is much more easy to ruin a career by getting a basketball-related injury.

Parker avoids injury at the college level by going pro right now.

Becoming a millionaire right out of college has to be very intriguing. That is especially true when you were only in college for one season. Is it so wrong for Parker to want to be rich? I don’t think so. Like it or not, making the big bucks to do what you love is always going to be very, very hard to pass up right away. With that said, he definitely had many other reasons to go pro.

I will say this about every player who decides to go pro: This was Parker’s decision, so everyone should respect that. He thinks he is ready for the NBA. If you watched him at all this year you would probably agree.
