Jon Horford Transfers to Florida, Will Find Success With the Gators
The last time a Horford was on the Florida Gators they won a national title. Billy Donovan is probably hoping for a similar result with Jon Horford. According to USA Today Sports, former Michigan forward Jon Horford will be transferring to Florida. He will find success in a Gators uniform.
Horford was never a star for the Wolverines. He also did not receive a lot of playing time. He averaged 13.8 minutes per game this past season and put up 3.8 points per game and 4.2 rebounds per game in the process.
Although Al Horford had a much more successful college career, Jon’s size is still intriguing and I am sure Donovan can find a place for him in the rotation. Jon stands at 6-foot-10 and weighs 250 pounds.
The Gators are losing four seniors, but shouldn’t skip a beat. Players like Chris Walker, Kasey Hill, Michael Frazier II and others are returning. Plus, a couple of other transfers will be joining the team and a pretty good recruiting class will be taking the court as well.
Florida has now made four straight Elite Eight trips. It made the Final Four this past season as the No. 1 overall seed, but could not get past the Connecticut Huskies.
Regardless, Horford has the size and talent to have some success with Florida. Who knows how much playing time he will receive or what his role will be, but this is a good addition for the Gators no matter how you look at it.
