The Pittsburgh Panthers do not gave a great incoming 2014 class of freshmen from coming in, but there are new faces that will have an immediate impact during the 2014-15 NCAA basketball season.

Coach Jamie Dixon hit the junior college recruiting trail and picked up Tyrone Haughton (Iowa Western Community College) and Sheldon Jeter (Polk State College and Vanderbilt). These two players are expected to help fill roles that are vacated with the graduation of Lamar Patterson and Talib Zanna. Jeter is considered a likely starter on the team, and his scoring should help alleviate the pressure from the backcourt of Cameron Wright and James Robinson. Wright is built to play the role Patterson filled, and Jeter is also geared in that manner.

Haughton will add an inside presence to go along with expected starter Michael Young and incoming freshman Shaquille Doorson. Doorson should make an immediate impact defensively because that tends to translate easily, but his offense will definitely need some work. The Panthers will not need to rely on Doorson because of the experience everywhere else and that will help the youngster. Haughton is lean and smooth at 6-foot-9 and should be a solid piece to go along with the beefier frontline. He can offer offense Doorson will not be able to provide and can help Young get free on the block. Young will be a sophomore, and his progression from last season should be a storyline to keep an eye on. This new group will add a punch that Pittsburgh clearly needed near the back end of the 2013-14 season.

This mix of fresh faces and an experienced backcourt should have Pitt Panther fans excited for next season.
