The Tennessee Volunteers have lost so much in the offseason that it's difficult to see a scenario in which they have tons of success. However, a few key wins could make or break their 2014-15 season. Here are the five most important games for the Vols going into next year.

This game isn’t as important to the team as it will be to the fans, but the return of Bruce Pearl to Knoxville is going to be a huge storyline across the college basketball world.

In their second SEC game of the season, the Vols face the Crimson tide in their first home conference matchup of the year. Tennessee needs to protect their home court against mid-level SEC teams, or they can kiss the Big Dance goodbye.

If Tennessee does not win this game, they will not go to the 2015 NCAA tournament. NC State is young, talented and boasts the type of resume necessary to get an NCAA tournament berth. They also have an old foe in former Alabama player Trevor Lacey.

The Vols’ next to last game of the season, LSU will be at least on the NCAA tournament bubble at this point. A huge win away from TBA could mean the difference between a trip to a postseason tournament and a disappointing end to the regular season.

In their opening game of the season, the Vols will face a very tough challenge on a neutral court from the VCU Rams. A win or a loss could define their entire season.
