In order to be successful in college basketball, you need to have at least two superstar-caliber players to win the title. When one star struggles or is in foul trouble, a team has to have another dominant player who can pick up the slack and contribute more than he's asked to. These 10 duos are the best in the 2014-15 college basketball season.

Virginia became a No. 1 seed last year because of the team play of Malcolm Brogdon and Anthony Gill. Brogdon led the team in scoring last year, while Gill was an effective sixth man. With Joe Harris and Akil Mitchell graduated, Brogdon will have to carry the load and Gill will also have to pick up the slack. If both can step their games up this season, the Cavaliers should be more efficient come tournament time.

Gonzaga will once again be solid this season, especially with the inside-out combo of Przemek Karnowski and Kevin Pangos. Karnowski stands out at 7-foot-3 and has a very efficient game around the basket. Pangos returns for his senior season and is already one of the most consistent point guards in the country. The Zags will once again hover around 30 wins because of these two.

North Carolina's tandem of Brice Johnson and Marcus Paige really hit their stride late last season, and will look to sustain that this season. Paige is impossible to contain on the fast break, and is one of the most improved players in the country. Johnson was a sixth man last year, but should get more opportunities this season after breaking out a year ago.

Michigan lost three NBA players this summer in Glenn Robinson III, Nik Stauskas and Mitch McGary to the NBA, but they still have an effective tandem in Zak Irvin and Caris LeVert. Both shot better than 40 percent from the arc last year, and LeVert really broke out after being overshadowed by Stauskas. Irvin will also look to break out after being limited last season.

While Chris Walker has had his off-court issues in his short time at Florida, he and Michael Frazier II form one of the best tandems in the SEC. With Patric Young and Scottie Wilbekin now graduated, both will have to become No. 1 and No. 2-type players for a team that will be looking to go back to the Final Four.

5. Cliff Alexander and Wayne Selden, Kansas

Don't let Tuesday's performance fool you, Kansas' duo of Cliff Alexander and Wayne Selden Jr. is still one of the top duos in the country. Alexander is one of the most highly-touted freshman in this class while Selden was one of the top recruits from a year ago. Selden should be the go-to-guy on the outside after Andrew Wiggins' departure, and Alexander should have no problems manning the paint with Joel Embiid also off to the NBA.

A major reason why the Badgers are favored to the return to the Final Four is the tandem of PG Traevon Jackson and big man Frank Kaminsky. Jackson is an efficient point guard who rarely turns the ball over, while Kaminsky is the most versatile big man in the country. Both players have the ability to play inside and out, making them the best tandem in the Big 10.

3. Treveon Graham and Briante Weber, VCU

The backcourt tandem of Treveon Graham and Briante Weber is a key part of why VCU is still legit after switching from the Colonial Athletic to the Atlantic 10. Graham has averaged 15 points per game over the past two seasons while Weber is one of the nation's leaders in steals. These two will definitely keep the Rams atop the national standings as well as the Atlantic 10 standings.

Duke's Tyus Jones and Jahlil Okafor already showed us what both could do against a quality Michigan State team on Tuesday. Okafor is the nation's top big man for a reason as he dominated down low despite early foul trouble. With Okafor limited by foul trouble, Jones proved he could also carry the load by scoring 20 points against the Spartans. This Duke team is one of the most talented in the Coach K era because of Jones and Okafor.

Even without Cleanthony Early, the Shockers have the best tandem in the country. Van Vleet is one of the top point guards in the nation, while Baker does a little bit of everything very well at forward.
