Week 8 of the 2014-15 college basketball season is in the books, and several major teams were upset. However, one upset doesn’t mean your favorite team is headed towards a downward spiral but multiple occurrences often do. Here are five teams trending downward in Week 9.

5. Miami Hurricanes

The Hurricanes have lost three out of their last four. Their overtime thriller with one of the best teams in the nation, UVA, should give them hope moving forward, but a good start could rapidly turn into a poor season, as the ACC is a mid-heavy league.

4. Ohio State Buckeyes

The Buckeyes have not won against a clear NCAA Tournament bubble team yet this season. They need to win against Minnesota away from home on Tuesday night.

After mounting a major winning streak since their horrible start to the season, the Gators have lost their final two games going into conference play. Arkansas, LSU and Alabama look like better teams than Florida, so the Gators may find themselves scrapping it out for one of the final spots in the 2015 NCAA Tournament.

After beginning the season 11-0, the Washington Huskies have lost three straight. The good news is that UW’s two conference losses have been away from home; the bad news is that the expected lower-tier teams in the Pac-12 look capable of upsets.

Talk about a downward spiral. St. John’s looked like they could be the surprise team of the season, but have lost two straight with two difficult games coming up.
