The Virginia Cavaliers take their perfect record on the road on Sunday, facing their intrastate rivals, the Virginia Tech Hokies in Blacksburg.

Head coach Tony Bennett and his team are 18-0, including 6-0 in the ACC. The Cavaliers play outstanding defense, holding opponents to an NCAA-best 49.3 points per game. Virginia has beaten 15 of its 18 opponents by at least double digits.

Junior guard Justin Anderson continues to lead the Cavaliers in scoring at 14.1 points per game, while shooting a blazing 52.6 percent from three-point range. Another junior guard, Malcolm Brogdon, averages 13.6 points per outing, while junior forward Anthony Gill scores 11.4 points per contest.

Unlike the Cavaliers, Virginia Tech has been wildly inconsistent this season for head coach Buzz Williams. The Hokies won two games, then lost two, then won two, then lost two, then won four in a row before hitting their current six-game losing streak. Add all of that up and the Hokies are now 8-10 on the season and 0-5 in conference play.

Freshman guard Justin Bibbs is the leading scorer for Virginia Tech, averaging 13.6 points per game. Junior guard Adam Smith is the only other Hokie in double figures, averaging 12.4 points per game.

Virginia is due to have a bad game at some point, but even if they don’t play their A-game in Blacksburg, they should still have enough to beat the Hokies. They are, after all, one of only two unbeaten teams left in the country (the Kentucky Wildcats are the other). Great teams, especially great teams with experience, don’t lose games like this, and the Cavaliers won’t lose this one.

Final score prediction: Virginia 72, Virginia Tech 50
