Matchup: Kansas State Wildcats (12-9) vs. Kansas Jayhawks (17-3)

Entering the season, people expected great things out of Kansas State and Kansas. So far, the Jayhawks have met expectations — for the most part — while the Wildcats have disappointed quite a bit.

Kansas is in a great position to win the Big 12 once again, although there is still plenty of basketball that needs to be played. Kansas State might not even make the tournament, which was definitely not expected.

The two teams will meet up on Jan. 31.

What to Watch For

Big things were expected out of Marcus Foster this year. After all, he had a solid freshman season. This year, he is averaging 13.8 points per game, which, of course, is leading the Wildcats in scoring.

Kansas is absolutely loaded with talent. Translation: Any player can go off on any given night. Frank Mason III and Perry Ellis are the top two leading scorers on the team, though, and are also the only players averaging in double figures when it comes to scoring.

Prediction

It is never easy to beat Kansas. Beating it at home is that much tougher. The Jayhawks have only lost one game in the Big 12 so far. Kansas State has already lost three games, but it is not doomed yet. In fact, if it wins out, it very well could come away with the conference title. That may be wishful thinking, though.

As usual when playing at home, the Jayhawks will capture the win, and move one step closer to winning the conference title.

Kansas State 64, Kansas 69
