Matchup: Oklahoma Sooners (13-7) vs. Oklahoma State Cowboys (14-6)

The Cowboys may have one less loss and one more win than the Sooners, but it is Oklahoma who know knocked off Oklahoma State just a few games back.

In that game, Buddy Hield dropped 27 points, which isn’t a surprise considering he is a scoring machine. This time around, I am sure the Cowboys are hoping Hield misses at least one shot. You know, since he managed to go 10-for-10 in Round 1. Also, this time around, it would help if Phil Forte III made some threes (0-for-5 in first meeting).

What to Watch For

Clearly, Hield is the main player to watch in this game, for either team. He is quickly becoming one of the best players in the nation. His 17.7 PPG may not be leading the country in scoring, but he can go off for 20+ on any given night.

Combined, Forte III and Le’Bryan Nash average a little over 34 points per game. They are the only two players on the team averaging in double figures.

Prediction

Here’s the deal: Oklahoma played at home in the first meeting, but Oklahoma State will get home-field advantage in Round 2. Although Hield could have a great game once again, I am predicting Nash and Forte III to come up big in front of their fans, which will result in a Cowboys victory.

Both teams are 4-4 in the Big 12 standings — with everyone trailing 6-1 Kansas — so a win in this one will be crucial to stay in the Big 12 title race.

Oklahoma 74, Oklahoma State 80
