Matchup: Georgetown Hoyas (15-7) vs. Villanova Wildcats (20-2)

We all remember the Big East, right? Although the conference has seen a serious makeover — in the worst possible way — there are still some great matchups. This being one of them.

With that in mind, the Hoyas would be doing themselves a huge favor by winning this game. For one, they are trailing Villanova in the conference standings. Plus, another loss would give Georgetown five losses in conference play. The Wildcats may not even lose five games all season.

Let’s not forget that the Hoyas have already handed Villanova a loss this season. Not to mention, it was a 20-point victory.

What to Watch For

D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera is leading Georgetown in scoring, he had 21 points last game and he also scored 17 on the Wildcats in the first outing.

The Wildcats have four players who are averaging a little over nine points per game and two more who are averaging 10 or more, so a number of players are capable of putting up a good amount of points — to say the least.

Prediction

Georgetown may have figured out Villanova in the first matchup, but it will have to travel on the road this time around. There is no doubt that the Hoyas will give the Wildcats a tough fight. When it is all said and done, Villanova should come away with the conference title, and winning this game will put it one step closer to achieving that feat.

Regardless of the outcome, this Big East matchup should provide plenty of entertainment.

Georgetown 72, Villanova 76
