The Virginia Cavaliers host the Pittsburgh Panthers on Monday night in ACC action.

Virginia is still without the services of junior guard Justin Anderson, who injured his hand just over a week ago. Playing without their second leading scorer, the Cavaliers have struggled two win their last two games, getting past the N.C. State Wolfpack 51-47 before surviving the Wake Forest Demon Deacons 61-60 on Saturday.

Despite their recent struggles, Virginia is 23-1 overall and 11-1 in the ACC. The Cavaliers continue to lead the nation in scoring defense, giving up just 50.9 points per game.

Junior forward Malcolm Brogdon leads Virginia in scoring, averaging 13.6 points per game. Anthony Gill is the only other active player averaging in double figures, scoring 11.2 points per outing.

Pittsburgh had one of the best offensive performances of the season by any team on Saturday, shooting a blistering 64.9 percent from the floor in an 89-76 win over the North Carolina Tar Heels. Pitt has now won four of its last five games and is 17-9 on the season, including a 6-6 mark in ACC play.

Sophomore forward Michael Young leads Pittsburgh in both scoring and rebounding. Young averages 13.3 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. Sophomore forward Jamel Artis averages 12.8 points per contest, while junior guard James Robinson scores 10.1 points per outing.

This is the first and only regular season meeting between these two teams. Virginia’s strength is defense, while Pittsburgh’s is scoring. Look for Virginia to lock down the Pittsburgh scorers and get the win in Charlottesville.

Final score prediction: Virginia 60, Pittsburgh 50
