The LSU Tigers and the Ole Miss Rebels are two teams from the SEC that should easily make the 2015 NCAA Tournament, barring a massive collapse. Not only do both of these teams deserve to make the Big Dance, but they are more than capable of doing some damage, as well.

However, both LSU and Ole Miss will have their sights set on a more attainable goal for the moment – a top four finish in the conference and a crucial double-bye for the SEC Tournament. The Tigers, No. 4 in the conference standings, and the Rebels, No. 5 in the conference standings, will face off in Baton Rouge on Saturday, Feb. 28, at 2 p.m. ET on FSN.

LSU currently sits one game behind Ole Miss for a top-four seed, but faces an extremely tough remaining schedule to finish the season. This team must win at home against the Rebels, because it’s likely that they drop one more to finish the season.

Ole Miss’s schedule to finish the season looks to be one of the easiest remaining in the SEC. After LSU, they face a struggling Alabama Crimson Tide squad on the road, as well as the young Vanderbilt Commodores at home. A win over LSU would all but assure a top-four finish.

LSU should win the inside game with their star sophomore Jordan Mickey, but the Rebels boast the better outside shooting game. Stefan Moody is the best closer in all of college basketball, so expect Ole Miss to pull out a crucial road win late.

However, these two teams are legitimate threats to make the Elite Eight as surprise teams. Both boast deep benches and, more importantly, have players who are more than capable of shining during crunch time. Keep an eye on both of these quads moving forward into March.

Prediction: Ole Miss 68, LSU 66
