Matchup: San Diego State (22-6, 12,3) vs. Boise State (21-7, 11-4)

Steve Fischer’s Aztecs will play host to Boise State on Saturday at 8 p.m. EST. The Aztecs will look to beat Boise State for the first time this season and to secure Mountain West supremacy. Should San Diego State win, the Aztecs will clinch at least a share of the Mountain West regular-season championship.

Boise State will need a win like this to boost its resume for the NCAA tournament. The Broncos are currently on the tournament bubble — a win on the road against a ranked opponent would likely put them on the other side of the bubble.

What to Watch:

San Diego State is an elite defensive team — only two teams hold opponents to fewer points per contest than San Diego State. The Aztecs hold its opposition to 53.5 points per game. Boise State does its damage from deep with leading scorer Derrick Marks and Nick Duncan. Anthony Drmic can hurt defenses in a number of ways — the Aussie is Boise State’s second leading scorer and is second on the team in assists. The Broncos average over 71 points per game, but don’t think Boise State will produce even close to that tonight.

Senior Dwayne Polee will play in just his second game for the Aztecs since collapsing on the court in late December. Polee was able to knock down a triple in his first game back.

Prediction:

Boise State was able to topple San Diego State in the first meeting, but Boise State will struggle to score in one of the premiere college basketball venues in the nation. Steve Fischer won’t allow his team to be beat from the three-point line for a second time this season. Look for the Aztecs to force Boise State off of the perimeter.

The Show will be rocking tonight in San Diego, fueling the Aztecs to clinch a share of the Mountain West regular-season championship for the fourth time in five years.

Final Score: San Diego State 56, Boise State 48.
