The Miami Hurricanes stormed into the 2014-15 college basketball season by upsetting teams like the Florida Gators and Illinois Fighting Illini, but now that conference play is nearly over it looks like Miami did not defeat a non-conference opponent that is headed to the 2015 NCAA Tournament. That being said, the Hurricanes must finish the season strong with a few more wins over quality opponents.

Miami’s next opportunity will be against fellow ACC bubble team, the Pittsburgh Panthers. The Hurricanes face Pittsburgh on Wednesday, Mar. 4 at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN Full Court.

Pittsburgh has surprised everyone by sneaking into the bubble discussion after their early-season loss to Hawaii. They have pulled off major conference upsets over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and North Carolina Tar Heels, leading to them being included in the “Next Four Out.” The Panthers need to win three or so more games if they are to be fairly certain that they’ll be included in March Madness, so expect them to come out focused at home against the Hurricanes.

Miami is the type of streaky team that could do some damage in the postseason. They have the scorers and the underdog mentality needed to pull off multiple upsets, whether that’s in the ACC Tournament or the 2015 NCAA Tournament.

But Miami has been awful on the road since their upset over the Duke Blue Devils in early January. Pittsburgh has only lost two games this season at home, which coupled with their ability to spread the ball around should lead to a close but comfortable Pitt victory.

Prediction: Pittsburgh 71, Miami 66
