The Atlantic 10 is arguably the most underrated conference in college basketball. Seven teams boast records that could deserve a trip to the 2015 NCAA tournament, but that’s a highly unlikely scenario.

Therefore, A-10 teams that are considered on the bubble, like the Davidson Wildcats, need to do some damage against the top teams in the conference whenever they can. Next up for Davidson are the 21-8 VCU Rams. The Rams will face the Wildcats on Thursday, Mar. 5, at 9 p.m. ET on ESPNU.

VCU are no longer ranked in the top 25, but that doesn’t make the Rams any less dangerous. They’ve lost two of their last five and four of their last seven, which is why they have dropped to fourth in the conference standings. Briante Weber’s injury has taken some of the steam out of the offense, but this team is more than ready to make a deep run in the 2015 NCAA tournament.

Davidson are currently in the midst of a seven-game win streak, so I’m going to have to give this one to the Wildcats at home. VCU will bounce back from their recent struggles, but Davidson are one of the hottest teams in the country right now.

Already one of the best offenses in college basketball, the Wildcats’ defense has stepped up during their win streak, allowing more than 70 points in just one game. VCU clearly boasts the better defense, but their offense has struggled as of late. Davidson’ ability to score should be too much for the Rams to handle, as VCU continues to slide and the Wildcats continue to rise.

Prediction: Davidson 66, VCU 62
