Matchup: St. John’s Red Storm (21-9) vs. Villanova Wildcats (28-2)

Just to ensure they make the dance, the Red Storm would be doing themselves a huge favor by winning this game. If they lose this one, which is expected, and then have an early exit in the Big East tournament, they could miss out on the 2015 NCAA tournament.

Villanova has only lost two games all season, and is riding an 11-game winning streak. To make matters worse, the Wildcats get this contest at home.

What to Watch For

With all of that said, St. John’s D’Angelo Harrison could be the best player on the court. He is averaging 17.9 points per game, after all. However, three other players on this team are averaging over 13 points per game.

Villanova is just a very good team overall. Six players are averaging at least eight points per contest on the Wildcats.

Prediction

St. John’s definitely needs this win more, but Villanova is poised to earn a No. 1 seed in the Big Dance. There are a million different reasons to pick the Wildcats in this contest, but we are going in the opposite direction.

The Red Storm have a bunch of scorers who can put the ball in the hoop at a high rate, and they are an NCAA tournament team — well, as of right now. They came close to taking down the Duke Blue Devils earlier in the season, which means they certainly have the goods to upset the Big East’s best team.

St. John’s 63, Villanova 59
