Matchup: Tulsa Golden Hurricane (21-8) vs. SMU Mustangs (23-6)

Who’s ready for the game that will decide the AAC regular season title? Tulsa is 14-3 in AAC play and, believe it or not, SMU is 14-3 in AAC play as well. This is the last game of the regular season for the two, which can only mean one thing: The winner will be the conference champs.

The Mustangs won the first meeting on the road, and are also ranked in the top 25. Oh yeah, they are also a lock to make the 2015 NCAA tournament.

Just for the record, both teams are coming off a loss.

What to Watch For

Neither team is averaging over 70 points per game. So, it would only make sense if this was a low-scoring affair.

With that in mind, the Golden Hurricane have two players who definitely carry the scoring load, as said players are averaging 13+ points per contest (Shaquille Harrison and James Woodard).

SMU has four players averaging 10 or more per game, and Nic Moore is leading the team in that department with 14.4 points per game.

Prediction

Tulsa needs this win. Sure, the Golden Hurricane could knock off some worthy opponents in the AAC tournament, but SMU provides the best resume builder. Let’s put it this way: A win against the Mustangs would more than likely put Tulsa on the ride side of the bubble.

We just don’t see it playing out that way, though, as SMU is a very tough out, especially at home.

Tulsa 64, SMU 68
