The 23-8 Oregon Ducks appear to have the record requisite for entry into the Big Dance, but if we dig a little deeper, we’ll see five good reasons why the Ducks shouldn’t qualify for the 2015 NCAA men’s basketball tournament.

Let’s first look at the most obvious disqualification factor, Oregon’s resume bereft of quality wins. The best win for the Ducks so far was a recent victory over the Utah Utes -- Oregon’s only win over a top-50 opponent.

Oregon is 1-4 against the top 50 and has four additional losses within the top 200. The Ducks suffered defeat to the Michigan Wolverines (RPI: 82), the Washington Huskies (RPI: 114) and worst of all, the Washington State Cougars (RPI: 149).

The Ducks are alright at home, going 16-2 against a weak schedule. But against that same weak schedule, Oregon is just 5-4 on the road and 1-2 at neutral sites. The committee will seriously consider this and could finalize their decision to deny Oregon a tournament berth based on these numbers.

You’re likely thinking “so what?” Well, remember that the NCAA tournament selection committee only awards 36 at-large bids. Taking that into consideration, ask yourself if you think Oregon is a team in the same neighborhood as those in the top-36. I don't believe the Ducks belong.

The Ducks have just not built a bulletproof resume over the season. If Oregon slips up and gets bounced in the first round of the Pac-12 tournament, then what recourse do the Ducks possibly have against getting snubbed by the selection committee?
