Matchup: Baylor Bears (24-8) vs. Kansas Jayhawks (25-7)

These two NCAA tournament locks will meet up in the Big 12 tournament. The winner will move on to the title game.

The Bears may have lost the first contest of the season (and the most recent one), but that does not mean they should be counted out of this battle. Beating Kansas at home, on the road or wherever is no easy feat. Baylor is coming off a solid win against the West Virginia Mountaineers, so it will be more than ready for this clash.

Kansas just barely got by the TCU Horned Frogs. In the Jayhawks’ defense, they were without Perry Ellis and Cliff Alexander.

What to Watch For

If Ellis is not good to go for this game, Baylor’s chances of winning increase significantly. He is the leading scoring for the Jayhawks, after all.

Taurean Prince is Baylor’s leading man in the scoring department and he continued that trend against the Mountaineers. He led the team with 18 points.

Prediction

Even if Ellis does make an appearance, I still like the Bears’ chances of coming away with the victory. They just got done beating a very talented West Virginia team and are clearly pretty talented themselves.

Baylor and Kansas are both locks for the dance, but now it is all about trying to increase that tournament seed. Unfortunately for the Jayhawks, the Bears will get the best of the Big 12’s best team in their third opportunity of the season.

Baylor 72, Kansas 71
