The Auburn Tigers have picked the right time to get hot. Auburn has won its first two games in the 2015 SEC Tournament and has earned a spot in the quarterfinals on Friday, where they will meet the LSU Tigers.

Auburn finished the regular season at 12-19, but Bruce Pearl has led his teams to wins over the Mississippi State Bulldogs and the Texas A&M Aggies to earn the right to play another day.

Senior guard K.T. Harrell has led Auburn in their two games in Nashville. He has scored a combined 44 points in the two wins, prolonging his career for at least one more day.

Harrell leads Auburn in scoring, averaging 18.4 points per game. Antoine Mason averages 14.3 points per contest, while Cinmeon Bowers averages 12.3 points and 9.6 rebounds per outing.

LSU will be in the NCAA Tournament regardless of their outcome in Nashville. The Tigers are 22-9 overall and has a 48 RPI. LSU has impressive road wins over the West Virginia Mountaineers, the Arkansas Razorbacks and the Ole Miss Rebels.

Johnny Jones and his team have one of the nation’s best interior tandems in Jarell Martin and Jordan Mickey. Martin averages 16.9 points and nine rebounds per game. Mickey scores 16 points, grabs 9.9 rebounds and blocks 3.7 shots each time out.

It will be interesting to see if Auburn has anything left in the tank, playing its third game in three days. The Tigers are not a deep team and they play extremely hard, so there might not be much fight left in them. But Pearl has the Tigers playing their best basketball of the season.

LSU’s inside game will be the difference and the Baton Rouge Tigers will advance to Saturday’s semifinals.

Final score prediction: LSU 77, Auburn 63
