2015 NCAA Tournament Preview: No. 7 Michigan State vs. No. 10 Georgia

The No. 7 seeded Michigan State Spartans fell to the Wisconsin Badgers in the Big 10 Tournament final, but they won their four games before that, all of which were against teams headed to the 2015 NCAA Tournament. Tom Izzo’s teams always seem to make a splash in the Big Dance, so it will be interesting to see what this team can do in what is considered a down season for them.

The No. 10 seeded Georgia Bulldogs finished third in the SEC, but, more impressively, competed with the Kentucky Wildcats both times that they faced off. This team is used to being the underdog and will feel that they can upset the Spartans.

What to Watch For

The hardest working man in college basketball, Nemanja Djurisic, will have to come up huge for Georgia. Michigan State’s offense is fantastic, so it will be up to the Bulldogs’ bigs to keep the Spartans from getting second-chance opportunities.

Prediction

This is my upset pick of the second round of the tournament. All of the No. 1 through No. 5 seeds look to have their games pretty much in the bag, so it’s going to be a favorite No. 6 or No. 7 seed that falls.

Georgia is far better than advertised. The Bulldogs are one of the hardest working teams in college basketball and don’t have a clear weakness. Michigan State has been inconsistent this season, and expect that to continue in the 2015 NCAA Tournament. Finally fully healthy for what seems like the first time this season, Georgia will come out on top of the Spartans in a close, hard-fought game.
